CODEwiz goes to Gent for the first official outdoor tournament of the year: G-SPOT.

The team: Andy, Anita, Alice, Amrei, Basile, Dimi, Fabrice, François, Jenna, Josh, Lorenzo, Noémie, Zepp. All true CODE, no pickups, no guests.

Wonderful weather, excellent fields, cool people, tight ultimate.

CODEwiz – Gentle petards 7-9
We talk about starting strong right before the match. We do so, we get a good lead (5-2), then we simply stop scoring. They come back, they win.

CODEwiz – Rusty bikes 9-11
Tight game: we play really well most of the time and after the halftime have a 9-7 lead. We just need to score one goal for the match, instead we let them have 4. They win.

CODEwiz – Xlr8trs 8-12
Possibly our worst match. Our D is really weak, our O is not effective. They play very well their breaks and swings. We manage to come back just after the halftime, then they score 3 in a row, they win.

Thanks to the magic of Swiss Draw, having had only really close games, we still make it in the middle pool. we’ll play for places 9-16.

CODEwiz – Ah Ouh Puc 2-13
First offence: they play a zone, we score. They switch to man: our O struggles. We have a few opportunities to score again and we even manage to get some D’s, but they are just more skilled, more physical and safer than us.

CODEwiz – Rusty bikes 7-10
Same exact match as the day before. We play well, we lead (this time 6-4) we start playing badly, they win. At least they’re really nice people to play with.

CODEwiz – Gentle Petards 10-7
We start thinking it would be cool not to win a single match and still manage not to end up last. Instead, we keep playing the whole match, and this time we actually win. We knew we could make it!

So, we’re finally 15th on 20, and, more important, we win Spirit of the Game. Yeah CODE!
